Due to a scheduling conflict, the breed council meeting was postponed until Sunday morning at nine o’clock. Those in attendance were as follows: Susan Carey, Lynette Clooney, Jo Ann Cordes Brown, Sandy Faust, Stuart Gray, Wendy Gray, Karen Helmold, Bronwyn Lewis, Cheryl Riley, Maureen Roseberry, Kay Sorg, Donna Trusler, Curt and Jan Gabbard.
Lynette Clooney brought a card to be signed by all present and sent to Paula Boroff. Paula is recovering from surgery. The breed council wishes you well, Paula!
Birman rescue was discussed. Donna Trusler noticed a three year old Birman spay amongst the cats the Houston SPCA brought to the show on Saturday for adoption. Thankfully, this Birman was adopted Saturday afternoon by a couple who said they were thrilled to have her.
The Breed Rescue made over $900 at both the SCBF and NBF/NAR shows. There is a website of gift items with Birman pictures on them. A percentage of the sale will go to the Birman Rescue Fund. The website is http://personal.nbnet.nb.ca/carraig/birmanzaindex.htm. Betty Sleep has organized this.
Excellent suggestions were made as to how to improve out breed booth. CFA is looking for breed booths that tell about the history of their breed, how our breed is different from other breeds, etc. We do have a power point show depicting our uniqueness and how we are different from other breeds. We used some cute Birman pictures but we were unable to portray it this year because of the rule that no electrical power can be used for breed booths. Next year, Allene Tertaglia said that she would try to get all breed booths power if they wanted them. There will be a cost involved, however
Last but by no means least we need to celebrate two Birman firsts at the International Show. GP Mysinhs Xavier bred and owned by Jo Ann Cordes Brown and Ken Brown was fourth best in premiership in the show! Also, Whitesox Zuni bred and owned by Karen and Richard Helmold, Curt and Jan Gabbard was fourth best kitten in show! Way to go Birmans! May these be the first of many more to come!
A final word. Please vote. Last year we had only 60% of our breed council turn in their ballots. Let’s do better this year. The ballots should be out shortly.
